Disable Unused Tender Types

How do you get rid of those unnecessary tender types? It’s easy, and can spare you a whole lot of grief down the road.

There are two ways to disable unwanted payment methods.

Method #1… Use this method if all of your registers use the same tender methods. If you need to have specialized tenders by store or register, then you will need to use Method #2.

  1. Within Back Office, go to POS » Tender Key Setup;
  2. Select the tender key you want to disable from the list;
  3. Click on the Disable Tender Key radio button to check it off like so:

    Remove unused payment types
    Changing tender keys
  4. Click on Save and repeat for any other tender keys.

The updated tender key(s) setup will be sent to your registers fairly quickly. For the changes to take effect at the register, you will need to exit out of Point of Sale, and log back in again.

Method #2… Use this method if you have different methods of payment by register or if method #1 did not take affect. For example, you may have a register that is dedicated to on-line orders and is the only one that accepts Paypal.

  1. From the Point of Sale main menu select Setup » Software Options » Tender Key Setup;
  2. Select the tender key you want to disable;
  3. Click on the Disable Tender Key radio button to check it off like so:

    Changing payment keys
    Changing tender keys
  4. Repeat for any other tender keys, and click OK to save the changes.

The changes will be immediately available.
